Amazon Original Chivas: El Rebaño Sagrado will Kick-Off on June 18

The first season of the anticipated docuseries about one of Mexican football’s most emblematic teams will arrive exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in Mexico and the United States

Mexico City, May 19, 2021 - Amazon Prime Video announced June 18 as the premiere date of the docuseries Chivas: El Rebaño Sagrado, which consists of four one-hour episodes where cameras follow the red-and-white team, showing never-before-seen moments and documenting some of the greatest personalities on the team both on and off the pitch.

The series follows the latest season of the Chivas de Guadalajara which was built on the promise of a rebirth with reinforcements from new players, and features key team members including president of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, Amaury Vergara, new sports director Ricardo Peláez, former team manager Fernando Tena, and top talent like José Juan Macías, Gilberto ‘Tiba’ Sepúlveda, Antonio ‘Pollo’ Briseño, and Cristian ‘Chicote’ Calderón.

The series is an Amazon Studios production, in association with Film 45. Rubén Bañuelos and Iván López Barba from Cobra Films are executive producers, and Evan Rosenfeld is the showrunner for the first season.

“This series will show you the story everyone knows, from a point of view that no one has had the chance to experience. The one that you can only experience by being a player of the ‘Rebaño Sagrado’”, affirmed Rubén Bañuelos.

Chivas: El Rebaño Sagrado is part of a growing list of Mexican Amazon Originals that include critically acclaimed productions like Diablo Guardián, Un Extraño Enemigo, El Juego de las Llaves, Cómo Sobrevivir Soltero, Pan y Circo and the winner of the Daytime Emmy LOL: Last One Laughing Mexico.

Prime members will be able to watch the series exclusively through the Amazon Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices, including Fire TV, mobile devices, and online. Members can also download the series to mobile devices to watch it offline and at no additional cost to their membership. The series will be available on PrimeVideo.com in Mexico and the United States on June 18, and will launch worldwide later this year.
