Mauricio Katz is a screenwriter and producer. He was born in Mexico City, grandson of Ukrainian, Polish, Egyptian and Chilean immigrants. In 2010 he wrote the film Miss Bala which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival (and has recently been remade by Sony Pictures). That same year he co-wrote and acted as co-showrunner of the series Niño Santo (which has recently been remade by Netflix).
In 2013 Katz moved to Los Angeles, where he’s worked on various Televisions shows such as The Bridge (FX) and most recently served as writer and co-executive producer on Maniac (Netflix) directed by Cary Fukunaga. Katz has developed television serie

Katz served as writer and Executive Producer on the Amazon Original series ZeroZeroZero (Amazon, Sky, Canal +) which he co-created with Leonardo Fasoli and director Stefano Sollima.
Currently, Katz is adapting the beloved novel by Roberto Bolaño, The Savage Detectives for HBO, which will be the network’s first Spanish language dramatic television show.
