    Kathryn Howden is currently playing Maggie Mclean in the popular BBC Scotland series, River City. Her other many and varied television credits include Looking After Jo Jo, The 39 Steps, Taggart, Dear Green Place, Case Histories: When Will There Be Good News, Parades End Silent Witness, Glasgow Girls, Pramface, Outlander and a regular in the Comedy series, Mountain Goats.

      Her stage career includes leading roles for the National Theatre of Scotland in Be Near Me and The Guid Sisters, several productions with the legendary 7:84 Company: Nae Problem, Road, Revolting Peasants, and Gilt. Kathryn appeared at The Almeida Theatre, London in The Government Inspector. She also works regularly at all the leading Scottish Theatres in Cant Pay Wont Pay, A Family Affair, Merchant Of Venice, The Marriage Of Figaro, The Taming Of The Shrew, Victory, The Breathing House, Trumpets And Raspberries, All My Sons, Educating Agnes, Everyone, and  A View From The Bridge at the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh. At the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow productions include Footfall, King Lear, Far Away/Seagulls and most recently a revival of The Slab Boys. Kathryn played the lead in That Face at The Tron in Glasgow, where she also performed Losing Alec, Shining Souls and Tartuff, and has also appeared regularly at the Traverse in Edinburgh where plays include Poor Superman, The Ballad Of Crazy Paola, Any Given Day and Tracks Of The Winter Bear.
