Groves believes in “smart design,” which results from expert communication, incredible interpretation of the written word, capturing the mood and tone of the material, absorbing the director’s vision, and presenting vision boards along with previsualization to eliminate all speculation of the design process. This belief in “smart design” assures the director of any doubt and helps visualize the finished product before spending a dollar.
Groves is always seeking to grow and enjoys working on projects with a diverse group of storytellers. He strives to gather collaborators that resemble the composition of the American mosaic. Cultural enrichment is how Groves defines his primary passion in life, travel. Whether cycling from Amsterdam to Barcelona or setting up film locations in the USA, the love of art, history, architecture, music, food, natural wonders, and people make up the tapestry of Groves’ life and work.
Groves is a proficient artist in drawing, painting, wood, metal and clay. In addition to being a master carpenter, he has great strengths in architecture, engineering, budgeting and project management.
