Charles Edwards was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award in 2022 for his performance as Gore Vidal in James Graham’s play Best of Enemies, which premiered in London shortly after he completed work on Season One of The Rings of Power. His television credits include Martin Charteris, private secretary to Olivia Colman’s Queen Elizabeth, in The Crown - Seasons 3 & 4, Michael Gregson in Downton Abbey, Alexander MacDonald in Edward Berger’s The Terror, and Lucian in The Halcyon.
Recently on film Edwards can be seen opposite Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren in The Duke, directed by Roger Michell, and as Mr. Jenkins in Robert Zemeckis’ film of Roald Dahl’s The Witches.

On stage, Edwards has appeared extensively at the National Theatre in London. Roles elsewhere include Richard II (Shakespeare’s Globe), Charles in Blithe Spirit opposite Angela Lansbury (London/Los Angeles), Richard Hannay in The 39 Steps (London/Broadway), and Bertie in David Seidler’s original stage play, The King’s Speech (London).
He has been nominated for Best Actor for three of his stage performances at the London Evening Standard Awards, and in Australia won the Green Room Award for his performance as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, directed by Julie Andrews.
He has twice been a SAG award recipient as part of the ensemble of The Crown.
